SAVILL GROUP ARCHITECTURE Our main belief is that the buildings only exist to serve the needs of people. Our main design intent has been to transform the express desires of our clients into a built form.
Our approach to design is constantly evolving. A lot of energy is spent at the front end of the design process developing a program and understand the issues before coming up with design solutions. We like to think that our designs are both functional and beautiful. Most often we try to work within the existing context, evolving from the existing palate rather than riling against. We have continued to seek balance in our work, mixing large and small, high end and low end, constantly striving to increase our knowledge and improve our performance.
John Savill is the principal architect and he has been designing since 1972 when John and two friends formed a design build company called the '38 Mothers' in Vancouver, B.C.. Aging has caused John to take a much more serious approach to business names.
Savill Group Architecture thrives on excellence and the knowledge of a job well done. To achieve this we limit the number of projects we undertake to allow our staff of visually sensitive designers to provide the greatest service to our clients. We enjoy guiding a design through from master planning to the finished project, and have been fortunate to provide this type of service on numerous occasions. Our practice ranges from single family residential to large scale institutional. We are proud that a past project has recently sold for the highest dollar value ever received for a single family residence in North Vancouver.
Our office is located in historic Hudson's Bay Building in downtown Lethbridge. It is perhaps best remembered as the Trianon Ballroom which operated from the 1930's through the 1960's. Since 1989 it has been the home of Savill Group Architecture. When we first came here in 1989 we realized that we would not need all of the space so we sought another creative use for the extra space. The result was the development of the Trianon , a gallery dedicated to the exhibit of modern and contemporary artwork. Our building also houses studios for fine and multimedia artists, graphic designers and web designers. The result is a dynamic, innovative climate that proves to be a constant source of inspiration and education for the residents who are pursuing their creative passions.
