FIRM PROFILE

Better Buildings. Better Communities.

Hughes Condon Marler: Architects (HCMA) is a highly creative and technically proficient team of almost 40 people with a passion for integrated, innovative and sustainable architectural solutions. Our firm is a collaborative practice where the four principals and four associates take a truly hands-on approach and work closely along side all staff members. HCMA¡¦s open studio environment facilitates dialogue and problem solving among senior architects, project work groups, and industry experts and specialists. Weekly design meetings allow principals to share creative solutions across a diversity of projects.

Since the founding of our predecessor firm in 1976, we have worked with a wide range of clients and completed a diversity of projects. These projects include the Renfrew Branch Library, West Vancouver Aquatic Centre, the competition-winning Rogers Elementary School in Victoria and the twin residential Azura Towers in Downtown Vancouver. Our firm has won a number of major architectural competitions including Centennial Square Revitalization (1997) and the UBC Boulevard Architectural Competition (2005). Our portfolio of work includes public and private institutions; educational and post-secondary facilities; urban town centers; museums and libraries; community centers; health care facilities; recreational and sports facilities; corporate offices; single family and multi-family dwellings; and large-scale residential developments.

The scope of our services include site analysis and feasibility studies, public process and stakeholder workshops, architectural design, interior design, master planning and urban design, green building and LEED certification, tendering, project management and construction administration, research, graphics and exhibitions. Over its 30 year history, the firm has received numerous awards for excellence in service and design. This dedication to excellence is rooted in our belief that better buildings contribute to better, stronger and healthier communities.
