The Centennial Pavilion Target Date: December 2003
The Centennial Pavilion requires extensive upgrades to extend its useful life. When completed, patients who are less sick or those acute patients who would benefit from proximity to related out-patient clinic services will be located in this building. There will be a total of 205 beds.
The relocation of departments to the tower will leave large areas vacant in Centennial, providing an opportunity to perform building upgrades. After the upgrades are completed, all remaining inpatient units and some out-patient, diagnostic and treatment services (as listed below) will have been relocated from other buildings on the site. These other buildings will then be demolished.
Centennial Pavilion will ultimately house:
- Bridging Unit, Family Practice
- Sub-acute Medical Unit, Acute Care Elderly, Tuberculosis, Family Practice
- STAT Centre, Geriatric Consultation
- Psychiatry Inpatient and Out-patient services
- Bone Marrow Transplantation, Haematology, Solid Organ Clinic
- Social Work, Spiritual Care CPU/CSU administration, Auxiliary, Transcription
- Biomedical Library and Communications, Respiratory Technology, VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation
- MRI, EMG unit, Pulmonary Labs, Hyperbaric Chamber, Adult Metabolic, Allergy Nutrition, IV Therapy
- Human Resources, Payroll, Health Records and Administration
- Medical / surgical day beds
On completion, all in-patients will then be located either in the Pattison Pavilion (tower) or in Centennial, with the tower housing those with higher acuity levels and with a greater need for urgent/frequent access to the diagnostic and treatment services within the building.
