EllisDon has been selected as the General Contractor and Project Manager for Phase 1 of Livingston Place, a new office development located at 2nd Street and 3rd Avenue S.W. in downtown Calgary. Phase 1 includes the 504-stall underground parkade, a 21-storey 440,000 square-foot office building and a public plaza. Given the strength of Calgary's economy and the sustained demand for office space in the city's downtown core, we are confident the building will be fully leased before completion in the Spring of 2007", said Randy Magnussen, Bentall's Senior Vice President & General Manager, Western Region. "Our projections for market demand in Calgary's downtown core suggest that construction of the development's second tower could begin in the near future. Some things you should know about EllisDonEllisDon was founded in 1951 by Donald J. Smith and his brother, David Ellis Smith. Operating from a tiny office, the company's first construction project was a small addition to a house in London, Ontario. It was completed on time and on budget. This ability to guarantee prices, completion dates and performance quickly became the EllisDon trademark. EllisDon began to leverage this strength and achieved rapid growth in the guaranteed price, public tender construction market. The result was a growing reputation for quality and reliability as we expanded our repertoire, completing increasingly diverse projects across Southwestern Ontario. The company's defining characteristic emerged very early on: EllisDon was prepared to assume risk. We were seen as innovative and dynamic in our approach to a construction challenge. Above all, we were seen as builders. By the 1990's we were a presence across Canada, in the United States and making our presence felt in Europe and the Far East. EllisDon signs were on construction sites for:
The Alaska Native American Health Center, Anchorage, Alaska;
The Olympic Village, Atlanta, Georgia;
Canary Wharf, London, England;
The Institute Kejuruteraan Teknologi Tenagi Nasional, Malaysia;
The Olympic Athlete's Medical Clinic, Athens, Greece;
plus construction projects across Canada, in Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico and the Caribbean. As the Millennium turned over we prepared to mark our first 50 years. We began to look for new business horizons, determined to be the authors of change in the construction industry and creators of our own new position in the industry. Determined to look beyond the traditional confines of our market, we emerged a broadly based Construction Services firm. By expanding our services to respond to our clients' needs, we have broadened our portfolio of services to include:
Financed, turnkey infrastructure projects, complete with long term services, Cradle-to-grave project management services, Construction-related client support services, including fundraising.
This proactive, services-based approach pairs intuitive and innovative options with our core capabilities. Our foundation will not change. We continue to provide ironclad guarantees for the successful completion of some of the world's most challenging and high profile construction projects.
The cumulative and specialized skills of our own people facilitate the delivery of construction-related support services, many of which utilize the Internet to help our clients improve service levels and profitability.
We continue to identify new opportunities. We listen and we respond. If you have a construction-related business need not addressed on our website, let us know. We are always looking for partners in the process of change.
As we go forward, there is one constant. We will continue to put the interests of our clients first.
We may provide construction and construction services, but our real business is building on great relationships. Relationships that are built on mutual benefit and trust, established and sustained by the people of EllisDon. Great relationships are the foundation for our success.
